Mid-Year Exams 2014

SKKSA’s July gradings are nearly upon us. These exams are for all eligible karateka up to Purple belt, and will be held at the dojo level.

You can download your syllabus to help prepare for the exam from the Karateka portal. Click here to view the download links.

Gradings will happen at each dojo on the following dates:

  • STANGER DOJO: Wednesday 25 June
  • SHAKASKRAAL DOJO: Monday 7 July
  • AVOCA DOJO: Wednesday 9 July
  • SHALLCROSS DOJO: Thursday 10 July
  • DURBAN NORTH & OTTAWA DOJOS: Saturday 12 July (at Durban North Dojo)
  • AMANZIMTOTI DOJO: Monday 14 July
  • OVERPORT DOJO: Tuesday 29 July

Preparing for your exam

  1. Download your grading syllabus to familiarize yourself with the exam content
  2. Practice your kihon, kata and kumite on your own, outside dojo time. The more you practice, the more confident you will be with the grading programme
  3. Remain calm, and ensure you remain hydrated during the exam
  4. Don’t forget to bring your SKKSA Grading Book to the exam

The Tournament Organising Committee would like to thank all SKKSA parents, karateka and instructors for making this year’s event a success. Your hard work and commitment to the Tournament 2014 project has ensured that this event was run to a high standard and will set a precedent for years to come.

SKKSA would also like to thank all the organizations that participated at the event – your participation ensured that the spirit of karatedo could truly be experienced at its finest on Saturday.

Announcing the SKKSA Tournament 2014

We are happy to announce this year’s annual competition, the SKKSA Tournament 2014.

It will be hosted by SKKSA at the UKZN Old Mutual Sports Centre in Durban, on 12 April 2014.

An official page has been setup at skksa.co.za/t14 where you can keep updated on the latest information for invited organizations, competitors and officials. Exclusive free downloadable content is also available for your computer and mobile device at this page.

SKKSA has a long history of hosting memorable and fun friendly competitions amongst the karate organizations in Kwazulu Natal, and this year’s event promises to continue that tradition. The theme is “The Spirit of Karatedo at its Finest” to capture the budō spirit of the art at a competitive platform.

With our recent launch of SKKSA ID student cards, our media team designed some new digital bites that we’re happy to share with you, our karate friends.

First up is a new wallpaper, nicknamed “Uniquely SKKSA.” It’s available in 5333 × 3333px, and should work on most widescreen desktops.

Instructions:

KSA National Championships – Results

KSA Nationals – Bloemfontein

Fourteen of our karateka travelled to the KSA National Championships in Bloemfontein, held on the 31st January and 1st February 2014.

We’re proud to announce that four of our karateka were placed nationally. Here are the results:

  • Sanhaviya Sookrajh – 2nd for Kumite
  • Atiya Hooblal – 3rd for Kumite
  • Rivaldo Ponnadu – 3rd for Kumite
  • Aaron Naidoo – 3rd for Kumite

Well done to all our karateka who qualified and participated at this national event.
