Welcome to the SKKSA website. Here, you can read the latest news, learn more about us, and go beyond the dojo. Regular features such as our Kata Series allow you to explore the history and theory behind the katas we practice, and our Karateka portal gives our students access to course material and information to help them train better.
If you’re joining us for the first time, please complete and return your affiliation form to your dojo instructor. You will receive an SKKSA ID student number once your registration has been processed. You can use this to sign-up for MyDojo and access our online features, international classes, grading syllabus, profile and more.
To our returning students, welcome back! We’re so excited to see you again. You can register for the new karate year online using MyDojo.
To begin, visit my.skksa.co.za. You will need a MyDojo account to do an online registration.
On your Dashboard, you will see a green banner titled 2021 Registration. Click the link to begin registration:
Read the prompt about affiliation benefits, then click “Register with SKKSA”:
On the registration form, select the members in your family that will be returning. This year we have introduced Linked Family Profiles, allowing you to submit a single application for all members in your family.
If you have family members training with you and they don’t appear in this list, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will assist you.
Ensure you select the correct registration category for each member (Junior or Senior), and check the box next to each returning member.
Confirm the registration details; if you need to make a change, click the Back button, otherwise click Next when ready.
Finally, please read the training indemnity, and accept it by clicking the checkbox.
Enter an email address for confirmation emails, and click “Submit Registration”.
Your registration application will be processed and you will receive an email once it has been completed by admin. You can also check the status of your registration on the MyDojo Dashboard by clicking the link in the green banner.
We look forward to welcoming you back to our dojos in 2021!
On Saturday President Ramaphosa announced the country’s move towards Level 2 lockdown.
This is no doubt a positive step towards rebuilding our economy, and towards increasing the morale and hope amongst us all.
With level 2, it has been noted that gyms may reopen. However, the president’s message also carried a cautionary warning regarding complacency.
And so, as we continue to navigate the changing tides posed by this pandemic, our priorities remain the same.
The safety of our students and our instructors is our top priority. Over the past few months, we have been presenting our karate lessons online, via Zoom.
We have taken a decision to continue that mode of teaching for the next 30 days, at which time we will reassess our position in terms of safety.
We believe this is necessary to protect our SKKSA community, and we urge you all to take full advantage of the lessons that are brought into your home 3 times a week, at no charge.
Exercise is known to have a profound impact on the normal functioning of the immune system. And so we encourage you all to join us at our zoom sessions, within our virtual dojo. You can access our free Zoom classes via the new MyDojo website. If you haven’t yet, please sign up at https://my.skksa.co.za/
We wish you and your family safety and good health in the weeks ahead.
We are excited to announce a special training session being held this Saturday, 25th July 2020 from 15:00 – 16:00 (South African Standard Time)
We would like to invite our past students to celebrate our 20th anniversary with us! Join us for an online training session held via Zoom. This reunion class promises to be fun as we welcome familiar faces to share in our 20 years of karate memories.
The class will be hosted by Chief Instructor and Founder, Aneel Dowlath Sensei.
This is a free class. Please note that registration is required. To sign up for the event, please click over to our Online Classes page and fill out the registration form.
In light of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, SKKSA has taken the decision to close all dojos with immediate effect until after the Easter weekend. This is in line with the recent declaration of a National State of Disaster by the Presidency and the closure of schools.
We will continue to monitor the situation and advise all karateka and instructors accordingly.
We wish our SKKSA family strength and safety during this time.
