Swiss Tour Concludes

After a week of intense training in sweltering conditions in Locarno, Switzerland, our team undertook their 3rd Kyu, 1st Dan, 2nd Dan and 3rd Dan examinations today. We’re happy to announce that everyone passed.

The examinations mark the conclusion of this year’s Summer Course held by the SKISF.

The team undertook  approximately 22.5 hours of karate under masters Koga, Yamada, Raka and Nobuaki Kancho. They were further challenged by the exceptionally hot conditions that have swept over much of Europe this week.

We’re delighted at the success of the tour, and look forward to welcoming the team back to South Africa soon.

You can read a full writeup of the tour here on the SKKSA blog soon. Watch this space!

It’s our 13th Birthday!

On 22 July 2000, Aneel Dowlath founded SKKSA as Shotokan Karatedo South Africa. Ever since, we’ve grown and learned a lot, and we are excited to share the next 13 years – and beyond – with our amazing karateka and instructors in the spirit of karatedo.

Today also marks the beginning of the SKISF Summer Course in Locarno, Switzerland – the same town where Sensei Aneel founded SKDSA and forged our affiliation with Switzerland in July 2000 upon our first visit to train with SKISF. Our team have just completed their first session at this year’s course, and are preparing for the next session to begin this afternoon. Visit our Twitter feed to get the latest updates from the tour – click here.

Since our founding in 2000, under the vision of Sensei Aneel Dowlath, we have forged international ties with SKISF (Shotokan Karatedo International Swiss Federation), and friendships in karate across the world. We’re still a young and growing karate organisation, and we are excited by the possibilities that the future will bring.

Thank you for your support over the years, and we look forward to working with you – our karateka – over the next thirteen years.

Oss!
